There are two ways to handle a trade-in when shopping on CarGurus:
Option 1: Start with a car you want to buy
Find a vehicle you like and contact the dealership directly. The dealer can discuss your trade-in, the vehicle you want to purchase, and the terms that work for your situation.
If available on the listing, select See finance & trade-in options and complete the trade-in details before contacting the dealer. This can help start the paperwork and save time at the dealership. The dealer will confirm the final trade-in value and purchase terms.
Option 2: Start with your current car
Use the Sell My Car form to enter your vehicle details and generate an offer from a participating dealership.
You can use the offer to:
- Sell your car outright to a dealership
- Trade in your car when purchasing a newer vehicle
