Listing a car privately on CarGurus!
Where can I list my car privately?
To list your car for sale, click on the Sell My Car tab at the top of the home page, from there you will want to scroll towards the bottom of the "Sell my Car" page until you spot a red car!
You will then want to select "Or list for $4.95" The easiest way to enter your vehicle information is to input your VIN. We will fill out the rest!
How much does it cost to list privately?
We only require a one-time fee of $4.95. If eligible, you may also have the option to add on our featured listing upgrade for $19.99. You can read more about how our featured listings work here!
When can I add photos to my listing?
Once you pay the $4.95 listing fee, you will then be prompted to either edit or add photos to your listing. You will be able to edit your listing at a later time as well by going to your "My Cars for Sale" page!
How long does it take to list a car?
You will be prompted to confirm your email address before your listing is live. Check your spam folder if you do not see a confirmation request from us!
Your listing will only take a few minutes to process and will be available for prospective buyers' searches soon after completion. Please note however that you may be required to verify that you are in possession of your car. This process may take up to two full business days.
How long do I have to sell my car?
Keep in mind that listings do expire after thirty days. However, a reminder will be sent when the expiration date is approaching and sellers can choose to extend their listing at any time! Sellers will also be able to re-open their listings within thirty days of the closing date before they are archived.
